New connections, relations, partnerships, friends. A few words that describe WordCamp Europe 2023 on Athens.
I arrived in Athens on Wednesday June 7th. Checked in at the hotel and attended a WordPress for the Enterprise event arranged by Human Made, Inpsyde GmbH, Crowd Favorite, XWP and The Code Company. Had some great conversations and listened to presentations of the driving forces behind this initiative.
On Thursday I attended Contributor Day. A day that is used to make and execute plans discussed by a diverse range of WordPress contributor teams. I joined the polyglots team to translate some of the WordPress plugins to Dutch. After dinner with Alexander Michaelson we went to another side event, also joined by Maciek Palmowski. Yes, we're all colleagues. It was a WordCamp rooftop party hosted by Human Made and Big Bite. Again great conversations were the recurring theme of this night. Two of the highlights of this evening for me were the conversations with Noel Tock, we chatted about his amazing work in Ukraine where he and a team are saving dogs and people from horrendous situations, and Karim Marucchi, who I asked a question that led to a 1.5hour+ talk about WordPress for the Enterprise.
Friday was a day of meetings with Kinsta partners, clients and casual talks with many people I know from my 14+ years experience in the WordPress Community. And of course I met and talked to some people I knew, or have seen in real life until then.
At night we had our own hosted party with attendees ranging from Kinsta partners, clients and people we valued to be present. The view on the Acropolis was amazing, and again great conversations took place.
About the drinks, what happened in Athens stays in Athens.😁
On Saturday I attended some talks and a panel, and yes, again had meetings and talks with lots of people. At night, I flew home where I landed in my bed around 2:30am. 🛬
I want to thank all organizers, sponsors, volunteers and speakers that made this WordCamp Europe a special one, again. 💙
(If your name is not mentioned in this post, don't worry. All conversations I had on WordCamp Europe inspired me.)
